Beginner's guide to the first days

The studio wants the opening to feel like a visual novel with a bakery attached. The friction players actually post about is smaller and more specific: no dialogue log, no auto-advance, a run button you have to hold, and a few puzzles that are sharper than the cozy label suggests.

Lunne greeting a customer at the bakery counter at 14:30, with a chalkboard and croissant tray.A neighbor in a bow tie telling Lunne about the cinema across the street while Orio floats nearby.

I read the English Steam review sample, 97 positive and 4 negative out of 101 English reviews, alongside the FAQ. The praise clusters on the art, the music, and the Paris streets. The complaints cluster on text tools and on one puzzle players call the sad customer's torment. I would rather tell you that than pretend the first hour is frictionless.

Opening habits that show up in more than one note

These are from the day log and from player reviews, not from an official tip sheet.

  • Cleanliness can stop Orio's production. The counter being pretty is not the same as the shop being clean.
  • Serve the customer whose patience is lowest. The shop screenshot shows a clock and a queue, not a single scripted buyer.
  • Mix dough before you open. Once the door is unlocked, the notes say you are short of hands.
  • Shift is a hold-to-hurry, not a toggle, and players have asked for that to change.
  • Recipes upgrade to three levels in the atelier. The rank-3-everything achievement is under 1 percent.
  • There is no dialogue log in the build players are reviewing. Read the box before you click past it.

Questions this page answers

Is The Witch's Bakery hard?

The studio says the play is gentle. Steam reviews still single out a few puzzles, especially a torment stealth scene, as harder than the cozy framing.

Should I start from the demo save?

No. Demo saves are incompatible. The demo page has the dates and the warning.
